An unofficial rule that I've had for my ten things list,
makesmesmiley, is that I do not refer to future events. I have a couple of reasons for this, but the most prevalent is that I don't want my appreciation to have contingencies. I want to appreciate things that are solid. That I won't regret later, because they cannot be taken away. Those that have already been, is a pretty dependable way of doing this.
This of course does not mean that I don't appreciate things that have not yet happened in practice. In fact, anticipatory appreciation is one that I've had more of throughout my life, but I feel the more stable type is the type I wish to work on thriving right now.
